When: Sat, October 29, 2016 • 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM PDT

Where: Omni Commons (4799 Shattuck Avenue • Oakland, CA 94609)

We will be covering a wide range of topics and techniques suitable for indoor mushroom cultivation, as well as a theoretical discussion about outdoor methods.

The workshop will begin with an introduction to the laboratory space used by the Bay Area Applied Mycology group (BAAM) and a discussion about how to connect with local organizations and resources.

We will then learn:

  • How to collect and germinate spore
  • Take tissue cultures from wild and market mushrooms
  • Propogate liquid culture
  • Expand mycelium on bulk substrate (grain, hay, recycled organic waste, etc)

You will also walk away with your own grow-kit and three liquid cultures to help launch your own mushroom growing journey.  We will be working in small groups so everyone gets personal attention and assistance.

The workshop will be four-and-a-half hours long with a one-hour lunch break.

Mushrooms play a vital role on this planet. They are a sustainable and nutritious source of food, offer incredible medicinal benefits, can help regenerate damaged ecosystems, create soil and open the door for consciousness exploration.
