Wren Lizabeth is an entrepreneur, bioregional chef, global forager and community herbalist with holistic knowledge in guiding conscious consumer experiences and stewardship of dynamic professional spaces. She practices food as medicine, thriving most with her offerings in event and social spaces to bridge relationship with the natural world one sip and bite at a time. Wren wanders worldwide and extensively sources from many biodiverse regions throughout the Americas studying and offerings wild food, native plants and traditional methods of medicine making, mixology, culinary and ancestral arts. Feeding herself from a cultural and traditional lens keeps her passions ignited as she deeply enjoys learning about the past and innovating with respect to the age of technology to bring these ways into modern day life with ease and accessibility. Wren truly believes that food is medicine and that our relationship with food can be creative and free from harsh chemical preservatives, single use packaging, mass production and factory farming if we remain curious and principled enough!
Wren has forged loyal and long term relationships locally with farmers, herbalists, healers, chefs, wildcrafters and mycologists to ensure her sourcing is clean and nutrient rich, free of chemicals and inhumane practices. On the plate folks can expect wild and wonderous aromas embedded in flavors and stories that come alive with every bite! Seasonal shifts in each region keeps her menu hyperlocal, rotating with a variety of flora, fungi and fauna. She also operates in a zero waste mindset, meaning that she is mindful of consumption and waste in the kitchen, creating systems to divert 80% out of the landfill by buying in bulk to reduce plastic packaging, sourcing food and herbs from the wild, buying local to reduce emissions, choosing reusable serving ware over single use when sensible and up-cycling what is considered food waste into herbal broths, nutrient dense sauces and compost. Her mindful feeding and medicine making always take into account food sensitivities & contraindications, omitting the use of over processed foods and sweeteners, as well as genetically modified foods.
Wren founded The NOHM Co. in 2015 realizing there was a deep intrinsic need in her community for more meaningful connection, conscious consumption and accessibility for self care. The NOHM Collective has consistently curated local supper clubs, virtual and in person herbal education and most notably operates an alcohol free bar experience nationwide at festivals as well as locally in Western NC. You can visit Asheville’s first non alcoholic bar in West Asheville established in 2018, which Wren curated with The NOHM & Asheville Dispensary, now called Plant Bar. Plant Bar has since expanded from West Asheville to Downtown Asheville and Chattanooga, TN.
The NOHM Co. launched a sister company in 2020 called The MerTails | Elixirs as Mixers. The MerTails elixirs are non alcoholic beverage concentrates that are botanically infused and mindfully sourced + formulated. The MerTails are currently available online for retail shipping as well as served by the cup in select venues nationwide, and internationally in Mexico and Costa Rica.
